Steamed Artichokes, Old World Style

Serve with chicken piccata or a nice pasta dish. Artichokes are difficult to pair with wine, so why not serve with sparkling mineral water with a twist of lemon? This will leave room for a delicious dessert – perhaps tiramisu. Mmm…

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 45-60 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 artichokes
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. Balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 tbsp. Italian dressing
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil

Steps:

  1. Trim off top of artichokes and cut off stem and clean.
  2. Place artichokes in steamer.
  3. Add water to steamer.
  4. Mix remaining ingredients together and pour over artichokes.
  5. Steam for 45 minutes to one hour or until leaves pull out easily.
  6. Baste the artichokes every 10 to 15 minutes
